<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solar light collection system and a solar thermal electric power generation system which allow a plurality of rows of light collection mirrors to be arranged efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The trough type solar light collection system 10 includes rows A, B of light collection mirrors 13 having reflection parts 12 for concentrating light on rectilinearly extending receivers 11. The light collection mirrors 13 are configured rotatable or pivottable centering on a center axes P extending along the receivers 11. The center axis P is positioned in such a manner that a rectilinear distance in the direction orthogonal to the center axis P between the center axis P and each of the outer edges N1, N2 of each of the light collection mirrors 13 is the smallest, wherein the outer edges N1, N2 are the farthest ends of the light collection mirrors 13 from the center axis P. The solar light collection system 10 enables the diameter D of rotation of the light collection mirrors 13 to be reduced, so that the plurality of rows of the light collection mirrors 13 can be arranged at a narrow spacing within a range not causing any mechanical interference due to the rotation or pivoting.
