<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet retaining device that can suppress the double feeding of sheets. <P>SOLUTION: A main tray includes a loading plate having a loading surface on which sheets are placed, an inclined plate having an inclined surface for guiding the sheets, and a rear guide 80 which brings the sheets in proximity to or into contact with the inclined surface. The rear guide 80 includes a base 81 slidably held on the loading plate, and a second elastic piece 90 extending from the base 81. The second elastic piece 90 includes elastically deformable elastic parts 91, 92, second projections 98, 99 which project from the elastic parts 91, 92 downward and are engaged with and disengaged from the loading plate, and contact parts 94, 95 projecting from the free ends of the elastic parts 91, 92 upward. Each of the contact parts 94, 95 includes a first surface 101 generally parallel to the inclined surface of the inclined plate, and a second surface 102 which is provided to the lower side of the first surface 101 and generally vertical to the loading surface of the loading plate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
