<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid pressure shock absorber that suppresses a flow rate of a working fluid flowing into a reservoir chamber. <P>SOLUTION: A fluid pressure shock absorber 1a has a flow passage 33 where a working oil flows from a rod-side oil chamber 18 in a cylinder 3 into a reservoir chamber 6; and the flow passage 33 includes orifices (first communication holes) 30 each communicating with the rod-side oil chamber 18, communication holes (second communication holes) 32 each communicating with the reservoir chamber 6, and an annular groove (annular space) 31 disposed between each orifice 30 and each communication hole 32 for communicating both, in which each orifice 30 and each communication hole 32 are disposed so as not to oppose to each other via the annular groove 31.
