Disclosed are a system and a method for providing a push service, comprising: a client for receiving a push message provided by a service-providing apparatus and providing a push service; and a push-service apparatus for transmitting to the client the push message provided by the service-providing apparatus, wherein in case of an abnormal termination of connection between the client and the push service apparatus, reciprocal reconnection attempts are made on the basis of a predetermined standard, thereby having the effect of reducing the network load resulting from reconnection attempts.
