<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can derive reliable values relative to aircraft operating parameters, such as an engine fuel flow rate and a rate of climb of an aircraft, from a smaller amount of aircraft performance data. <P>SOLUTION: The method estimates a vertical airspeed and a fuel flow of an aircraft at a point along a flight plan using other aircraft parameters for that point. More particularly, when vertical airspeed and fuel flow estimates are needed, the method uses a database containing sets of actual values of operating parameters of an aircraft to identify a set of actual values of operating parameters that best matches the other aircraft parameters, and applies the vertical airspeed and fuel flow values obtained from that identified set as the estimates. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
