The present invention relates to an image filtering method for detecting a directional component of an edge, and to an image recognition method using same. The image filtering method according to the present invention receives, as an input, an original image and filters the original image using filters, each generated according to a plurality of channels, so as to generate a plurality of first images, selects a value of a channel representing a maximum value for each image unit from the generated first images so as to generate a second image, filters the second image using filters, each generated according to a plurality of channels, so as to generate a plurality of third images, and compares channels of the second images and channels of the third images for each of the image units so as to generate an output image having a detected edge so as to maintain channel consistency. |
