PURPOSE: A multiple frequency band optical repeater is provided to make the utmost use of an existing mobile communications system while providing an IMT-2000 service, in order to reduce equipment cost, by using a present optical cable and optical module to relay IMT-2000 communication signals. CONSTITUTION: A frequency converter converts each frequency of IMT-2000 forward communication signals. A synthesizer synthesizes more than one signals from IS-95A, IS-95B, or IS-95C forward communication signals with more than one IMT-2000 forward communication signals whose frequencies are converted. A transmitter converts the synthesized signals into optical signals, and transmits the optical signals through an optical cable. A converter converts the optical signals into electrical signals. A distributor distributes the forward synthesized signals according to frequency bands. More than one signals from the more than one IMT-2000 forward communication signals whose frequencies are converted are transmitted. The IS-95A, the IS-95B, and the IS-95C forward communication signals are transmitted.
