PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a push button switch having a vertical two-stage structure and a remote control device with an inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: A first-stage switch group comprises a push button B1 having two core members 2a arranged at the prescribed interval and made of a conductive member and a key top main body 3 surrounding the core members with an insulating material so that the upper end sections 2b and the lower end sections 2a of the core members are exposed, two or more contact points 4 excited in contact with the lower end sections of the core members when the push button is depressed, and a first exciting member 5 exciting a key top section to separate the lower end sections and the contact points when the push button is not depressed. A second-stage switch group comprises a push button B2 having a key top main body 10 arranged with a character or a symbol on the surface and made of an insulating material and a conductive section 11 provided on the lower face of the key top main body and a second exciting member 12 exciting the key top section to separate this conductive section and the conductive sections formed at the upper end section of the push button of the first-stage switch group.
