<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device capable of detecting a recess in a predetermined region on an image even if there is no information regarding a subject shown in the image. <P>SOLUTION: An image recognition device has: a contour extracting section (61) that detects a plurality of contour points positioned on a contour line in a predetermined region on an image; a short-cut path detecting section (64) that detects first and second contour points which are both ends of a short-cut path that short-cuts a part of the contour line, passing outside the predetermined region, out of a plurality of contour points; and a recess determining section (65) that determines whether or not an area that is not included in a predetermined region, which is surrounded by a path along a contour line between the first contour point and the second contour point and the short-cut path, is a recess portion based on the length of the short-cut path or the length of the path along the contour line. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
