[Also in Division H2] The envelope of an electric incandescent lamp comprises two trough-shaped members of lighttransmitting vitreous material sealed together along outwardly extended flanged rims, the electric connections to the or each filament extending through the seal and terminating in contacts which take up the contour of part of the wall of the envelope in the vicinity of the seal. In the form shown the members 1, 2, Fig. 2, are trough-shaped with flat rims 3, the filaments 4 passing through the joint between the members and terminating in contact strips 5. Two or more of the strips may be connected together. In a modification, the filaments 4, Fig. 3, may be connected in series by portions 4a embedded in the joint and may terminate in loop-shaped portions 6, the ends of which are returned into the joint and the looped part flattened on to the rims 3. The surfaces of the envelope may be provided with a diffusing, a fully reflecting or a selective reflecting coating, may have prismatic or other flutings or may carry a decorative design.</p> |
