Provided is a cosmetic composition having structural recoverability, excellent heat stability and a good feel when used, which is transparent and smooth when applied to the skin or hair. The cosmetic composition comprises components (A) to (D) in amounts such that the composition includes 0.1-30 mass% of component (A), 0.1-50 mass% of component (B), 50-95 mass% of component (C), and 0.01-10 mass% of component (D), with the mass ratio of component (A) to component (B) being in the range of 1/5-5/1. (A) is a polyalkylene glycol derivative that has the formula Z-{O-(EO)a-(AO)k-H}m (where Z is a polyalcohol residue having 3-6 hydroxyl groups, EO is an oxyethylene group, AO is a C4-8 oxyalkylene group, and EO and AO are bonded in a block-form). (B) is a nonionic surfactant having a hydroxyl group and a C12-22 hydrocarbon group, and exhibits an HLB of 3-8. (C) is at least one lubricant selected from among ester oils that are liquid at 25°C and triglycerides. (D) is water. |
