PURPOSE: A convertible on-off valve for controlling fluid is provided to save energy consumption by reducing the influence of fluid pressure with a non-exposed structure. CONSTITUTION: A convertible on-off valve for controlling fluid comprises an upstream body(10), a downstream body(20), a central body(30), a valve seat(40), and a cylinder type trim(50). The central body comprises a first passage(31) connected to an upstream chamber(3a), a second passage(32) connected to a communication path in the upstream body, a third passage(33) connected to a downstream chamber(3b), and a fourth passage(34) connected to a communication path in the downstream body. The convertible on-off valve is operated by either controlling the first to the fourth passages or by supplying hydraulic and pneumatic pressures to the first and third passages.
