<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a putter head having a face insert with a slit excellent in dimensional accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The putter head 1 has a face insert 3 made of a viscoelastic body attached to a face surface of a head body. The putter head 1 also has a slit 5 extending in the toe-heel direction on the front surface of the face insert 3. The slit 5 is formed by eluting the face surface side of a second viscoelastic body 8 from a laminated body formed by laminating a first viscoelastic body 7 and the second viscoelastic body 8 with a lower hardness than that of the first viscoelastic body 7.
