<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of providing accurate gains based on estimated velocities of mobile stations while storing in each base station a table of gains and pilot channel power levels for the mobile stations to specify traffic channel power levels for the mobile stations, in order to coherently demodulate reverse-link traffic channels in a cdma2000 wireless communication network. <P>SOLUTION: A method of modifying gain tables for reverse-link communications includes the steps of estimating the velocity of a mobile station for a given frame error rate (FER) and data rate, and preparing options of three gains on the basis of the estimated velocity in order to specify a reverse-link transmit power level.
