The method involves providing a microphone (2) to detect the noise in motor vehicle (1) and generate signal (S1). A camera (3) detects the distance between the vehicle and preceding vehicle to generate signal (S2). A control unit (4) determines the malfunction of the vehicle based on the comparison result of the signals (S1,S2) with the threshold signals. A decision unit (6) provides decision corresponding to the determination of the malfunction of the vehicle.
