USER AUTHENTICATION APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a user authentication apparatus capable of accurately performing user authentication even at a position where ambient light is rapidly changing such as outside of doors, a doorway of a building, etc. SOLUTION: A user authentication apparatus 1 comprises an interrogator 10 for communicating with a responder 2; a user information authenticating means 11 for determining registration/non-registration of identification information of a user to be acquired from the responder 2 by the interrogator 10; a light projecting means 12 for projecting a radiation light into an object space; an imaging means 13 for outputting an image having a pixel value responding to euphotic quantity of light received from the object space; a controlling means 14 for making the imaging means 13 output a high illuminance image/low illuminance image which is an image of the object space when lighting up and or when lighting out of the light projecting means 12; an amplitude image producing means 15 for producing an amplitude image having difference of each pixel value of the high illuminance image and the low illuminance image as the pixel value; a face detecting means 16 for detecting a face of a user in accordance with the amplitude image; and an authenticating means 18c for performing user authentication using an image of the face of the user detected by the face detecting means.
