PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit housing a flat discharge tube downsized, especially, thinned. SOLUTION: For the lamp unit 10 housing the flat discharge tube 50 in a housing 11 and occluding an opening part 11a of the housing 11 by a lid body 12, the flat discharge tube 50 is pressed by a locking protrusion 11f fitted to a side wall 11c of the housing 11, a press-stopping frame 12d and a rib 12e fitted to a rear face of the lid body 12, engaged by a locking protrusion 12f fitted to a side wall of the lid body 12 and a locking hole 11e fitted to the side wall 11c of the housing 11, and is fixed to have the opening part 11a occluded.
