<p>Device (1) to lift an electrode cap (55) of the cone of an electrode shaft (50) of a welding device, comprises at least one pair of successively adjusted fork. The electrode cap is mounted on the cone, and a groove-like, circular free space is formed between a startup collar of the electrode shaft and the startup collar-side end of the electrode cap. Each fork exhibits at least two tines (15a, 25a) arranged at a distance to each other, where the distance corresponds to the diameter of the cone of the electrode shaft in the area of the groove-like free space.
