By increasing the core diameter (d) of multiple helical flutes (16) from the tool tip towards the shank (12), bending strength is improved, making high-load and/or high-efficiency processing of deep cutting dimensions possible and improving tool life. Meanwhile, processing precision is further improved by the increased tool rigidity and reduced bending deformation. Moreover, configuring the lands (18) of the outer cutting edges (20) from the primary relief alone increases the widths of the helical flutes (16) between the lands (18), that is, the widths of the chip pockets, making it possible to secure chip pockets of sufficient size regardless of the increase in core diameter (d) and limiting chip clogging while making it possible to improve bending strength by providing slopes at the bottoms of the flutes. |
