<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver capable of individually controlling an application operating in the receiver for each receiver depending on a status of the receiver side. <P>SOLUTION: A notification setting part sets whether or not to receive notification data relating to a content in reproducing content data. A notification reception part receives the notification data including an application information table from the outside through communication on the basis of the setting by the notification setting part. An application control part refers to the application information table included in the notification data received by the notification reception part, and performs life cycle control of the application on the basis of a control code.
