<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of being incapable of continuing communication if a cable pin failure occurs, because in the failure detection of a unidirectional link, there is only a function of blocking a port concerned after failure detection. <P>SOLUTION: A supervision function unit periodically transmits a life-and-death supervision packet to a connection port of an opposite network device. On detection of a unidirectional link failure (a state of being able to transmit a packet but unable to receive it, or a state of being able to receive a packet but unable to transmit it), the supervision function unit switches a pin (Tx+, Tx-, Rx+, Rx-), currently used at a port to which a LAN cable is connected, to a standby pin (Tx'+, Tx-, Rx'+, Rx-), and resumes communication after the similar switchover is made in the opposite device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
