The animal crate has a door (1) that is swingable from a closed position against restoring force. A closing detent portion (8) is engaged with the door against restoring force, by the operation of a locking bolt (5). A stop portion (13) is displaced with respect to an actuating drive unit (12) for releasing the locking bolt that is in drive connection with the door. The door is released by the operation of the actuating drive unit corresponding to open position of the locking bolt, due to application of force along closing direction of locking bolt.
