<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of luminance of a flexible planar lighting device by stably holding a reflection sheet arranged on the rear face side of a light guide plate even in a curved condition. <P>SOLUTION: Since the thickness T<SB POS="POST">BST</SB>of a double-sided tape 34 for fixing reflection sheet 16 to a housing frame 26 is formed to satisfy a relation of T<SB POS="POST">BST</SB>≥k.L.t/2r, a function as a cushion material for absorbing dimensional changes due to deformation of the housing frame 26 is sufficiently given to the double-sided tape 34. It was paid attention to the fact that the L as a parameter for obtaining the minimum limit of thickness T<SB POS="POST">BST</SB>of the double-sided tape 34 necessary for preventing separation of the reflection tape 34 is proportionate to the amount of changes in a length (diagonal length) of the light guide plate 12 which substantially rules the shape changes in surface direction (direction parallel to the surface) of the housing frame 26.
