<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of restricting occurrence of image failure such as image fog by bringing the surface potential of the image carrier right after the start of an image forming operation close to a predetermined potential, without requiring a complicated circuit configuration. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a charging member 60 disposed opposite the image carrier 2 and configured to charge the surface of the image carrier 2; an oscillation voltage generating part 61 configured to generate an oscillation voltage by overlapping AC voltage and DC voltage and to apply the oscillation voltage to the charging member 60; a discharge member 12 configured to discharge the surface of the image carrier 2; and an operation control part 65 configured to control operations of the oscillation voltage generating part 61 and discharge member 12. The operation control part 65 has, as a control mode, a surface potential adjustment control mode 82 in which the oscillation voltage generating part 61 is controlled so as to temporarily rise the surface potential of the image carrier 2 to a predetermined potential or above by applying an oscillation voltage to the charging member 60 and then the operation of the discharge member 12 is controlled so as to bring the surface potential close to the predetermined potential by discharging the surface of the image carrier 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
