<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader which is easily set and coincides with a printer of a connection destination, and an image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: A scanner 100 can be used with multiple types of printers. When connected with a printer 200, the scanner 100 obtains at least either specification information or status information of the printer 200 of a connection destination. According to the obtained information, the scanner 100 changes at least one of multiple setting items on a setting screen for giving an instruction to the printer 200, so that an acceptable range of the setting of the item conforms to the obtained information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
