Air supply, heating. - In a locomotive water tube boiler furnace having an air heating jacket, entrance of rain, snow or dust with the air is prevented by extending the sides of the jacket 2 beyond the smoke box, and placing the inlets 8, 9 on the inner walls of the extension thus formed. Additional inlets 10 may be provided at the ends of the extensions, and all the inlets may be controlled by louvres. |
