PURPOSE: A composite positive electrode active material is provided to improve the voltage and the capacity of a lithium battery by comprising an inorganic material. CONSTITUTION: A composite positive electrode active material comprises a compound with an olivine structure and an inorganic material. The inorganic material comprises a nitride or carbide of an atom of one or more element from group 2 and group 13 to group 15. A manufacturing method of the composite positive electrode active material comprises a step of sintering the mixture which comprises the precursor of the compound with an olivine structure and the inorganic mixture. The compound with an olivine structure comprises a precursor, a lithium precursor, a phosphate precursor and a transition metal precursor.
