PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling the rotation speed of an impeller for stirring molten pig iron are provided to control the rotation speed of an impeller for dephosphorization and desulfurization according to the diameter of the impeller. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the rotation speed of an impeller for stirring molten pig iron comprises a laser distance measuring machine(5) and a control unit(10). The laser distance measuring machine is installed to be separated from an impeller(1) and measures the distance to the impeller using a laser. The control unit calculates a diameter ratio between a ladle and the impeller using the measured distance and a set distance and controls the rotation speed of the impeller using the calculated diameter ratio.
