<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter 1 that is not restricted in mountability and can perform accurate control when a restart request is made in a process of stopping an engine, by embedding a rotation detecting device for outputting a rotation signal of a frequency that is in proportion to a rotational speed of a motor 2. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation detecting device is arranged in an inner space at a motor 2 partitioned by a partitioning wall 18. The device is configured with a plurality of detecting teeth 41 provided on an armature shaft 12a, a detecting coil 42 arranged to annularly wind around the armature shaft 12a where the detecting teeth 41 is provided, and a signal processing circuit 44 for outputting a rotational signal as a cyclical change of an induced voltage generated in the detecting coil 42. Thus, when the restart request is made, the motor 2 is rotated first, and when a relative rotational speed between a pinion 6 and a ring gear reaches a predetermined value or less, the pinion 6 can be meshed with the ring gear. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
