<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the state of city water use to be determined from the reading on a water meter and any water leak or the like to be monitored without having to refit or remodel the water meter. <P>SOLUTION: Whether or not city water is being used is determined by checking the reading on the indicator part of a water meter 10. For instance, the situation of a water conduction pilot 20, which is provided in the indicator part of the water meter 10 and rotated by water conduction, is shot with an image pickup element of a reading detection adaptor 32 and, if any change in image due to the rotation of the water conduction pilot 20 is detected, it is determined that city water is being used or, if no change in image due to the halt of rotation of the pilot is detected, it is determined that city water is not being used. The state of city water use or non-use may as well be determined by detecting the state of reading, such as a change in the rotation of a pointer or in the count of an integrating counter, both the pointer and the counter being provided in the indicator part of the meter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
