PURPOSE: A rolling process control device and a method thereof are provided to accurately derive the information of the material, thereby preventing accidents from the rolling process and reduce accidents at a rolling mill where the electric power is used in many steel mills for increased productivity. CONSTITUTION: A rolling process control device(200) comprises a communication part(210), a control part(220), and a storage part(230). The communication part(210) receives the measured material information from a material information measuring device(100). The communication part(210) transmits a rolling process control signal corresponding to the measured material information to at least one of a roughing mill(300), an edger mill(400), and a finishing mill(500). The control part(220) extracts the material information corresponding to the measured material information by using a material information table information. The control part(220) generates a rolling process control signal corresponding to the extracted material information for controlling one of the roughing mill(300), the edger mill(400), and the finishing mill(500). The storage part(230) stores the material information table information. The material information measuring device(100) is placed on the front end of the roughing mill(300). The material information measuring device(100) is the tension meter(100) of a roll table base.
