<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine that allows line drying, allows a cover portion to be held in a proper position when clothing is suspended from the cover portion, and facilitates easy opening of the cover portion when the suspended clothing is removed. <P>SOLUTION: A washing and drying machine is provided that performs a line-drying operation of drying an object to be dried that is suspended from a cover portion toward into a tub portion. The washing and drying machine includes a holding mechanism provided in an outer casing portion and having a movable portion that protrudes toward the cover portion and supports the cover portion. The movable portion is elastically biased toward its protruding direction. When the movable portion is pressed against the biased force, it is movable so as to reduce the amount of protrusion. The movable portion supports the cover portion such that the cover portion is located between a fully-opened state and a fully-closed state when the amount of protrusion is nearly at its maximum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
