PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To learn a cause of nonpermission of EV traveling in a hybrid vehicle to which a driver can request EV traveling, and enables EV traveling as much as possible.

SOLUTION: An EV switch 24 is provided for a driver to request to stop an engine 2 and to travel by the drive force of a second MG 10. When EV traveling is not permitted because of established conditions for inhibiting EV traveling in spite of a request for EV traveling via the EV switch 24, an ECU 22 carries out a predetermined control for not establishing the above conditions.
