[Class 115.] A luffing davit 13 of wide reach is pivoted 12 in a bracket on the ship's side and is provided with a slueing head 11 the rotary motion of which relative to the base is limited by stops. The luffing movement of the davit is controlled by the lift 30 worked from the winch which operates the falls 21 and connected to a swivel 31 mounted on the slueing head. In a modification, hydraulic or other fluid-pressure mechanism is provided to give the davit an initial outboard push. |
