Disclosed are an entropy encoding method and apparatus and an entropy decoding method and apparatus for an image. An entropy encoding method of the present invention comprises the steps of: arithmetically encoding a binary value of a current encoding symbol using a probability of a predetermined binary value which is determined on the basis of prior encoding symbols encoded prior to the current encoding symbol; and updating the probability of the predetermined binary value using a plurality of scaling vectors according to the binary value of the current encoding symbol.
