<p>An in-vehicle device (2) uses two modes to transfer sound data from a portable telephone device (3). In the first mode, sound data stored on the portable telephone device is transferred and output. In this first mode, control data is communicated in accordance with a control data transfer protocol, and the sound data is transferred in accordance with a sound data transfer protocol and is output. In the second mode however, sound data stored in a server (36) in a communication network (35) is transferred while being subjected to sequential buffering by the portable telephone device and is output. In this second mode, a specific data communication protocol is employed instead of the control data transfer protocol, the control data is communicated in accordance with this specific data communication protocol, and the sound data is transferred in accordance with the sound data transfer protocol and is output. Any command and any data can be communicated in accordance with this specific data communication protocol without being restricted to commands specified by the control data transfer protocol.</p> |
