The handling tool has a suction head portion (3) placed at a workpiece. A pneumatic spacer (15) is connected with the suction head portion. A power source is provided for maintaining low pressure at the suction head portion. The tool module portions (1) of a gripping tool are joined together. The suction head portion is connected with a base plate (2). Multiple coupling elements (6,7,10,11) are provided at base plate for releasable connection of module portions with the base plate. The base plate is made of plastic material and is provided with honeycomb structure.
