Provided is a gear shift operation device which suppresses upsizing in a radiation direction from the rotation axis of a rotation operation of a handle grip. A gear shift operation device (1) provided in a handle bar (2) is provided with: a rotation reference member (3) which has a first cylindrical part (3a) through which the handle bar (2) is inserted; a rotation member (5) which has a second cylindrical part (5a) through which the first cylindrical part (3a) is inserted, and is provided to be rotatable with respect to the rotation reference member (3); an object to be detected (6) which is affixed to the rotation member (5); a detection part (7) which detects the rotation of the object to be detected (6); a cylindrical member (8) which is in contact with the rotation member (5) and through which the first cylindrical part (3a) is inserted; an elastic member (9) through which the first cylindrical part (3a) is inserted and which pushes the cylindrical member (8) against the rotation member (5) in the rotation axis direction of the rotation member (5); and operational feeling generation parts (5d, 8b) which are provided in the rotation member (5) and the cylindrical member (8), respectively, and cause an operator to recognize the rotation motion of the rotation member (5). |
