An identity bracelet / identity wristband 140 is provided with a pocket 150 to receive an encapsulated device 105. The encapsulated device 105 is a portable tracking device, e.g. RFID or barcode, or other portable electronic device, encapsulated in a film, e.g. a heatshrink film. The film and pocket may be transparent to enable viewing of an identifier on the device. The wristband pocket may be formed integrally with the band or it may be provided separately and appropriately attached, and it is provided with a flap that folds over the end of the pocket. The encapsulated device can be removed from the bracelet for cleaning. An encapsulated electronic device may include various sensors and may indicate degradation, disinfection status and/or end of life of the device and may further include an LCD or wireless coupling to an external device.
