A breather tube cover member 110 is formed as a hood that is arranged to be coupled to a breather tube 5 of a transmission of a vehicle so that it prevents contact between liquid and an air inlet 7 of the breather tube 5. The cover member 110 defines a cavity into which a bent portion 5B of the breather tube 5 is introduced. Cover member 110 is formed of resilient plastics material and is shaped to fit snugly over the bent portion 5B and to grip the bent portion by means of a detent arrangement comprising opposed sidewalls 110S1, 110S2 having dimpled portions 110SD1, 110SD2. The dimpled portions 110SD1, 110SD2 are arranged such that as the breather tube 5 is introduced into the cover member 110 the dimpled portions 110SD1, 110SD2 are urged apart when they contact the breather tube 5. The cover member 110 may be coupled to a battery box or an engine cover or an electronic component box. In another embodiment the cover member 110 is integrally formed with a battery box.
