PURPOSE: A high pressure fuel pump for a GDI(gasoline direct injection) engine is provided to minimize the shock applied to a retainer and piston as a suction unit is tightly connected to a roller tappet unit even in high-speed operation. CONSTITUTION: A high pressure fuel pump for a GDI engine comprises a body(21), a damper unit(24), a spill valve(25), an inlet check valve(26), an ejection check valve(27), a suction unit(22), and a roller tappet unit(28). The suction unit is formed at the lower part of the body, and generates suction force. The roller tappet unit is integrally connected to the suction unit. The roller tappet unit delivers a linear reciprocating motion to the suction unit by converting a rotational motion of a cam into the linear reciprocating motion.
