<p>PURPOSE: A cryptographic communication system and method are provided to transmit a common key CK(x) from ICx to ICy using a public key cryptographic system. CONSTITUTION: A cryptographic communication system(1) comprises a semiconductor device ICa(10) and a semiconductor device ICb(20). The semiconductor device comprises a unique code generation unit(11), a storing unit(12), a common key generation unit(13), and an encryption unit(14) The unique code generation unit generates a unique code UC(a) including a unique value and random errors in the semiconductor device. A unique code UC(a) is a value which is determined by inherent physical properties in an element included in the semiconductor device The storing unit stores correction data CD(a), a common key CK(a) generated in the common key generation unit, and a public key PK(b) of the semiconductor device. The common key generation unit generates the common key CK(a).
