Manufacturing a thin film solar cell of copper, indium, gallium and selenium type, comprises applying a coating liquid containing elements of copper, indium, gallium and selenium, which is dissolved or finely dispersed in one or more compound containing nitrogen/carbon atomic ratio of >= 1:5, on the surface of a cell substrate; and subsequently annealing the coated substrate in an oxygen-free/low-atmosphere. An independent claim is included for the coating liquid.
