<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reading of signals from pixels of a solid state image pickup device having plural substrates with plural reading styles and enable reading of signals by using only one substrate with at least one of plural reading styles. <P>SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device has plural substrates which are electrically connected to one another through a connection portion. The solid image state pickup device has first to n-th circuit sets containing circuit elements which enable reading of signals in accordance with each of first to n-th (n represents an integer of 2 or more) reading styles, and a photoelectric conversion element, a reading circuit and a circuit set corresponding to at least one reading style are arranged on one substrate so that operations from generation of signals in the photoelectric conversion elements to reading of signals based on at least one of the first to n-th reading styles by using circuit elements arranged on only one of the plural substrates is completed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
