PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery offering excellent high-temperature characteristics.

SOLUTION: At least one of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator contains a high molecular compound, and an electrolytic solution contains an oxidation-reduction compound. The oxidation-reduction potential (relative to Li metal) of the oxidation-reduction compound in the electrolytic solution is higher than the potential (relative to Li metal) of the positive electrode at the charge termination voltage in the electrolytic solution, and lower than the oxidation potential (relative to Li metal) of the high molecular compound in the electrolytic solution. The chlorine content in the electrolytic solution is equal to or lower than 100 ppm.
