<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-asbestos-based friction material composition which can give a friction material excellent in friction coefficient, cracking resistance and abrasion resistance even if a small amount of copper is contained; and to provide the friction material and a friction member using the non-asbestos-based friction material composition. <P>SOLUTION: The friction material composition comprises a bonding material, an organic filler, an inorganic filler, and a fibrous base material. The content of the copper contained in the friction material is 5 mass% or less as a copper element. The content of a metal fiber other than the copper and a copper alloy is 0.5 mass% or less. The friction material further contains: a nitrile-butadiene rubber; and tin powder.
