<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a commodity retrieval device which can retrieve purchase target commodities without imposing an excessive operation load on a customer. <P>SOLUTION: A label issuing device (commodity retrieval device) 100 measures a commodity on a scale by a measurement unit 150 and divides the measured value by a value of a commodity number input by a customer operation to calculate a unit average measured value per one commodity. In a commodity database 121, each commodity is associated with reference unit weight indicating weight per one corresponding commodity. The label issuing device 100 retrieves commodities within a predetermined number in the commodity database 121 in an order in which a commodity having reference unit weight closer to its unit average measured value is ranked higher. Then, the device displays the retrieved commodities as commodity buttons in a commodity selection area of a touch panel display unit 140.
