<p>Provided is a closure mechanism for a vehicle door, capable of being more compact both in a base member and overall, while having a structure whereby a sector gear and a position detection sensor that detects the rotation direction position of the sector gear are disposed in the base member. The closure mechanism for a vehicle door comprises: the base member fixed to the vehicle main body and one side of the door; a rotatable hook that engages and disengages from a striker protruding from the other side of the door; a rotatable ratchet that engages and disengages from the hook; the sector gear that rotates the hook to the striker holding position side, by rotating in one direction; a motor that rotates a pinion and rotationally drives the sector gear in said one direction, when the hook has reached a half-latch position; and the position detection sensor capable of detecting the rotation direction position of a sector gear disposed in a surface facing the base member sector gear.</p> |
