<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in which: if lubricant carried by lubricant application means is left pressed against an image carrier, the lubricant is adhered to the surface of the image carrier; and at the start of subsequent image formation, when the lubricant adhered to the image carrier reaches a nip with image carrier contact member such as a cleaning blade, the surface of the image carrier or the contact member can be damaged. <P>SOLUTION: The rotation drive of lubricant application means is started at a timing earlier than the start of the rotation drive of an image carrier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
