This pneumatic radial tire for a passenger car is configured so that, when the tire is mounted to a rim and the inner pressure is set to 250 kPa or higher, the cross-sectional width (SW) and outer diameter (OD) of the tire satisfy a predetermined relational expression. This tire/rim assembly is formed by mounting the tire at the bead sections thereof to a rim. This method for using the tire uses the pneumatic radial tire for a passenger car at an inner pressure of 250 kPa or higher, the pneumatic radial tire having a cross-sectional width (SW) and an outer diameter (OD) which satisfy a predetermined relational expression.
